Subject Leader – Philosophy, Religion and Ethics (PRE) and Social Sciences

A rare opportunity has arisen to join our successful, happy and forward-thinking school as a Subject Leader for Philosophy, Religion and Ethics (PRE) and Social Sciences.

We are seeking an inspirational and experienced person with the skills, enthusiasm, commitment and drive to make a significant contribution to our school.

The main purpose of the position is:

  • To raise standards of student attainment and achievement within the whole curriculum area and to monitor and support student learning & progress
  • To be accountable for student learning, progress and development within the curriculum area
  • To develop and enhance the teaching practice of others
  • To ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students studying PRE, in accordance with the aims of the school and the curricular policies determined by the Headteacher and Governing Body
  • To be accountable for leading, managing and developing the PRE and Social Sciences curriculum
  • To manage and deploy teaching staff, financial and physical resources effectively within the PRE and Social Sciences curriculum area
  • To maintain a safe, secure and healthy environment within the department and, where appropriate, the school as a whole
  • To facilitate and encourage diverse and challenging learning experiences throughout the department which encourage all students to achieve their individual potential.

Pastoral Support Officer - Term Time

  • Pay: KR6 £23,801 - £25,262 (Pro rated to working hours)

We are looking to appoint a Pastoral Support Officer to join our team at DGSB. The Pastoral Support Officer will work within the Key Stage Four team at the school and will be a highly committed, enthusiastic and organised individual. 

Main responsibilities of the position include ensuring the highest standards of student welfare, supporting effective discipline in the school and providing on-going support in matters of disruptive or anti-social behaviour.

Examinations Officer - Term Time

  • Pay: KR6 £23,801 - £25,262 full-time, £21,712 - £23,045
  • Start Date: April 2024 or July 2024

  • Interviews: 21st or 22nd March 2024

We are looking to appoint an Exams Officer to join our team at DGSB. The Exams Officer will be:
-  responsible for the organisation and smooth running of both internal and external examinations
-  acting as the primary liaison between the school and external examination bodies
-  familiar with the requirements and regulations placed on schools by both awarding bodies and the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and will ensure that the school is compliant with these before, during, and after examination periods

The ideal candidate will be a highly organised multi-tasker, with excellent communication and an excellent team player.

Lead Science Technician - Term Time

  • Pay: Salary dependant on experience
  • Start Date: Summer Term 2024

We are looking to appoint a Lead Science Technician to join our busy Science department.  Key tasks are to prepare practical lessons and provide continued support to the Science department. Being adaptable and willing to take on all challenges is essential, as is an interest in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The ideal candidate will also be flexible, mindful of Health and Safety issues and possess excellent interpersonal skills. A good computer literacy will also be required. 

You will be joining our Science Department at an exciting time.  Our new accommodation provides us with exciting, spacious teaching spaces, specialist science labs and a state of the art Science Prep room, all of which increases opportunities for students both inside and outside of the curriculum.

Exam Invigilators

We are looking to recruit Invigilators for the coming exam season and on an ongoing basis. Experience is not necessary as training will be given, but it is important that you are responsible, reliable, calm and adaptable. The ability to work as part of a team, under direction, and to communicate effectively are essential. 

Invigilators will be required to conduct examinations in accordance with JCQ regulations and the school’s instructions and will play a key role in upholding the integrity of the examination process. Please note that invigilators are required to stand for extended periods of time.
