DGSB IT Systems for Parents and Students

Please see below for information on the main IT programmes students and parents need, including what they are, what they are for and how to access them. 

ParentMail

What is it for?

This free app helps you to be kept in touch with DGSB news and events. The app gives you direct access to your child’s attendance, absence records, school reports and so much more. It is the place to make payments for items such as school lunches.

How do I log in?

For first time registration you will have received a registration email containing a link to the website. Registering requires you to enter the date of birth of your child and to complete the registration steps. The app is available for both Apple and Android devices. To set it up simply: 1) Go to your App Store 2) Search for ParentMail 3) Download the free IRIS ParentMail app. 4) Once downloaded, search for Dover Grammar School for Boys and follow the identification steps. Afterwards logging in is straightforward using either the app or website.

Class Charts

What is it for?

This is a new and highly recommended service used by over one-thousand UK schools to help parents and students see progress and behaviour in lessons. Data from Class Charts builds towards milestone achievements and rewards for students.

How do I log in?

There are two main ways that both parents and students can use Class Charts.

– Easiest and most convenient way is an App on either Android or Apple phones

– The second method is to login through www.classcharts.com

Parents of new students receive their individual log in details (via email/taken home by their son/posted on ParentMail) to allow them to log in.

Office 365

What is it for?

Office 365 offers online versions of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), is a place to store files online (using OneDrive) and subjects place their lessons and resources in class Teams for ease of access by students at any time through an internet connection. Office 365 works on tablets, smartphones, laptops and PCs. It works on any operating system that supports chromium web browsers (eg. Windows, MacOS, Linux).

How do I log in?

Student user accounts and password reset are done in the first few Computing lessons. Student usernames for getting on the network in school have the format: Initial of first name, surname, 22. For example a Year 7 student called John Smith would have the username: jsmith22. Office 365 accounts are accessed using an email address that comprise of the username followed by ‘@dgsb.co.uk’. For example: jsmith22@dgsb.co.uk. Passwords are reset by students on first login. Students who forget their password should go directly to the IT Office on the first floor, located near the central stairwell. IT Services can be contacted on: IT@dgsb.co.uk When signing in to Office 365 at home the best way is to open Google Chrome web browser and enter: office.com as a search in the address bar of the browser. On the Microsoft web page that opens click on the Sign In button.
