Key Stage 3 (covers Years 7 and 8)

Year 7 Curriculum Booklet

Year 8 Curriculum Booklet

The curriculum builds on the work covered by pupils at primary school and extends it further into new areas of study. The range of subjects studied is broad and balanced and includes: English, Mathematics, Science, Languages (Two from French, German or Spanish), History, Geography, Religious Education, Music, Art, Design and Technology, Food Technology, Computing, Physical Education, Drama, Citizenship and PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education).

The Director of Key Stage, Student Support Officer, Student Welfare Officer and the Form Tutors are responsible for the students’ academic and pastoral welfare, and work closely with parents to ensure that any difficulties or concerns are dealt with promptly.

In addition to attending Parents’ Evenings, parents are encouraged to make contact with the KS3 Student Support Officer or their son’s Form Tutor if they have any concerns about the academic progress or the well-being of their son.

The Learning Centre provides support for students having difficulty with their learning – this could be because of a medical condition, a specific learning difficulty, a weakness in literacy skills, or emotional problems.

We believe that all our students are gifted and talented students and provision is made to ensure they are challenged appropriately.

DGSB's curriculum pattern means that students complete an accelerated Key Stage 3 in just two years. They will choose their GCSE Options in the Spring of Year 8 and begin a three year GCSE programme the following year.
