DGSB in the Antarctic

Posted on: 24/09/2021

DGSB Year 7 Student Tyler took in an exciting maritime event which celebrated 100 years since Ernest Shackleton embarked on his expedition to Antarctica. As a member of the 5th Deal Scout Group, Tyler has been an integral part in preparing the ship the Lady Daphne for her commemorative voyage to Antarctica. He helped prepare and paint the life rigs on the Lady Daphne, clocking up an impressive 40 hours of volunteering in the process. On 17th September, Tyler watched his work on the Lady Daphne sail down the Thames, through Tower Bridge and past HMS Belfast, starting its journey to Antarctica. We think it is the first time that any work of a DGSB student will travel to the Antarctic, so a massive well done to Tyler!
