World Book Day 2020

Posted on: 30/01/2020

For the first time in a very long time we are doing World Book Day at DSGB! All sorts of activities will be taking place throughout the day not least years seven and eight coming to school in book related costumes!

We know KS3 parents were possibly hoping to be free from costume creation this year.  We are therefore hoping to give you enough warning and want to flag that although March sounds a long way away it is the second week back after half term.

The costumes make the day so much more special, and students talk about how much they miss the day when they come to secondary school.  The day has a noticeable impact on their reading and is a great time for all the whole school to promote reading so please do talk to your child about who they want to be and support their efforts.

There is also a competition to design a bookmark for World Book Day. Students can get a template for the competition from Ms Farley in the library or from their form tutor. The deadline for the competition is Friday 7th February. The winner will have their bookmark professionally printed and handed out to students, as well as winning a £10 book token.

Further details are available from Mrs Monk Peak and Ms Farley
