The Dover, Deal and Sandwich Partnership is a group of like-minded schools who work together for the good of the students in our community. We believe in giving our young people access to first class teachers and, collectively, are committed to investing in the teachers of the future.

Teaching is the most rewarding, satisfying, challenging and, yes, sometimes frustrating career there is. The DDS schools – which include Grammar Schools, Secondary Moderns and Primary Schools – through working together can offer aspiring teachers an excellent experience base from which to launch their careers.

School Direct is a training programme for both graduates and career changers, where you can be fully immersed in the life of a teacher from day one.  It gives the trainee the chance to work and learn alongside teachers within the full time setting of a school.

School Direct courses are set up in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University and are popular for those training to be a teacher who hope to secure a teaching post in the network of schools where they are training.

Dover Grammar School for Boys offers placements on two Initial Teacher Training (ITT) course routes:

School Direct

School Direct is a school-based training route: trainee teachers spend a year at their training school, with a four-week placement in a contrasting institution.

Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)

Dover Grammar School for Boys is also pleased to host a large number of PGCE student teachers every year, in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU). Applications for PGCE courses should be made through CCCU. For more information please visit the CCCU website.
